HOW IT WORKS

How vehicle tracking works

Data collection

Each vehicle is fitted with a GPS tracking device and, where applicable, additional data sources such as CAN bus or OBD. These components record position, speed, ignition status, and other operational parameters. data.

Data transmission and processing

The device sends this information to 3Dtracking’s cloud-based servers via cellular or satellite communication. Incoming data packets are received and processed instantly on the platform. Meanwhile, algorithms filter out false readings to maintain accuracy.

Visualization

The processed information is displayed on Google Maps within the 3Dtracking platform. Vehicles appear with live positions and statuses, supported by high-precision geospatial data.

Alerts and events

Real-time data is used to trigger alerts. You can create geofences and points of interest (POIs) within the map view, and configure alerts based on these areas elsewhere on the platform.

How frequently is vehicle or location data updated? The 3Dtracking platform delivers live data instantaneously. You can choose your preferred refresh rate.
Can I see multiple vehicles on the map at once? Yes. The platform offers a 'cluster view', which makes it less overwhelming by grouping multiple vehicles together.
What happens if a vehicle loses signal or enters a no-network zone?

If a vehicle temporarily loses connectivity, the tracking hardware device stores all trip and event data. Once the signal returns, the buffered data is uploaded to the platform, so you still see every event and trip point exactly as they happened.

To make sure alerts trigger correctly, make sure your SIM provider supports roaming.
Can I get alerts directly from the live tracking screen? Yes, alerts are accessible via the top right corner of the platform screen.
